My 17-yr old cat Hercules went into renal failure (UREA 186) with accompanying anemia. He was hospitalized for 3 days the following week which lowered his numbers (UREA to 93)and then I started sub-q fluids (100cc 2x day). Within two weeks, his numbers were back up and he was in crisis with anemia so low he was close to the end. He also had severe constipation (blockage) which was finally cleared with the vet using hand manipulation. Meanwhile, I had researched natural options on the internet, found and ordered Tripsy the week before and it came none too soon. Improvement was seen immediately. In addition, the vet prescribed a red blood cell stimulator (Procrit) 3x week which is slowly improving the anemia. The combination of the fluids, Vit B + Iron, Appetite stimulant, Procrit, metamucil/fishoil for constipation, and the Tripsy combine to provide a remedy that seems to be taking my little boy on the upswing. Hercules is eating 1 can/day, walking around the house, lays in the sun and is generally enjoying his life as a geriatric. I don’t know how long he will last but from the other reviews, perhaps it isn’t the end as was predicted by the vet. Thanks Tripsy!

Initially, the Tripsey seemed to help until I found out the difference between kidney disease and renal failure. It turns out that Hercules had chronic renal failure and the Tripsey, which increased him urinating was a bad thing. By urinating more, his stool became impacted and he was in/out of the emergency room. I had to return the Tripsey for a refund. the owners of the website didn’t explain the difference in the illnesses nor did I understand myself. I feel awful that I gave Hercules something that wasn’t good for him while trying to save his life. After 7 weeks of non-stop care, he passed on. It was all very sad.

I had my dog on tripsy for 3 months and I believe he had too much diruetics. The gravel root is a diuretic and also can be a poison. He also had episodes of staggering. I belive this poisoned his system as he became dehydrated and died.

Frank, that may well be true. One never knows with alternative things thus they must be investigated carefully before use. I had some negatives with it’s use for Hercules, but was more careful with the items I chose for Judas. The end is the same. They die from the disease.Try not to feel guilty. You did your best. My cat died within two weeks of trying Tripsy. They, of course, would not post my experience with the product on thier website. My cat was PKD positive, was doing OK on perscription medicine but was underweight. Within a few days of adding Tripsy to his diet, he took a sharp turn for the worse very quickly.

Nancy, I understand how you feel. My cat had renal failture and died a few weeks after using Tripsy also. I did get my money back, not that it was of any concolation. There is a difference between renal failure and kidney disease and Tripsey is meant for the latter and not the former. As it makes the cat urinate more, it causes problems for a cat in renal failure. The manufacturer should state the difference. I’m sorry for your loss.
