We can’t control everything

August 23, 2010

There are times when there is lots going on and we really want to get things under control. So we try to do our best to control, order, file and arrange. But no matter how hard we try, things just happen. There are many terms for it.. but stuff happens.

We can't control everything

We can't control everything

During one of these periods, I was driving down the street and a stone hit my windshield. It was a little stone but the impact cracked the windshield just enough making a replacement necessary. “Why did this have to happen to me?” I asked. So I asked my guidance for help in taking care of this situation – since my finances were short and this item was surely not on the list. The message I got from guidance was “we can’t control everything” but we can get “help” when we need it.

In no time flat, I received unexpected gifts of money, new clients and the money for this expense was worth coming. Ok, one aspect taken care of. Next, I found a company that made house calls. What convenience!

So, although we might want to manage all the details in our lives, the answer to all the chaos is not really in control, but in having faith that we will be guided to find the answers and to have the resources to solve the problems.  When we have faith, the chaos is sorted for us. It all works out for the best in the end.

My windshield was replaced and is in good order now and in the process, the universe reminded me that I must continue to trust that I will be guided to know the way.

The Path to Getting our Life Lessons- Part 1 – Awareness

June 23, 2010

First we have to understand our nature. We are essentially energy beings. We are made up of energy. According to Quantum theory, the energy of stuff – including light particles, reacts even when separated in another room. Thus our bodies, since we’re made of the same core energy that light’s made of, will react when people or other living beings are nearby. We experience this everyday when we meet someone for the first time and either immediately like them, dislike them or have specific feelings about this person.

What are the feelings based on? We react to the energy that the person emits. Our unique energy pattern is our very own symphony. I call this unique energy that a person radiates, their symphony. Your symphony is a very special message that you send out to the world. It is based on the energy coming from all of your energy centers that speak to how you take care of yourself, deal with life issues, are in fear or love, if you are using your spiritual gifts, how well you are firmly planted in your body and if you are connected to your divine essence, among other things. Wow, that’s a lot! It sure is.

Since our reactions can be positive or negative, we need to understand what’s going on. But let’s take it from the person’s viewpoint. They are sending out either positive or negative energy in order for us to have this reaction. We are merely “reacting” to what they are sending out since like attracts like. What is an example? If you are around a happy, positive person, then you tend to feel vibrant, welcomed and high spirited yourself. As a result, one would lean towards liking a positive person. Therefore, a positive person gets positive reactions from the world mirrored back to them. The situation also works in reverse. No one likes to be around a mean-spirited, fussy individual and thus such a person would find that people tend to avoid, cut off or not wish to interact with them.

Sometimes we need help to uncover our patterns and the lessons intertwined within. Wow, what if the negative person didn’t get why people wanted to avoid them? What if they wondered, “Why don’t people like me?” This is a pretty straight forward situation, yet there are so many cases like this in the world. People can be quite clueless as to how their behavior emits responses. The beginning of one’s self work is awareness before understanding. Sometimes it takes a teacher or helper to see what’s going on.

When I do an energy reading on my clients during our first meeting, I get a wealth of information about this person without them telling me. The look on their faces lets me know how true my results are and how well connected we become as a result. Then our work together can begin to uncover the root of their understanding of their energy patterns.

Are You Planning for Death or for Life?

June 6, 2010

Most of us live our lives day-by-day planning what will happen. We plan to get a job, work, earn a living in order to buy material things that supposedly bring happiness, only to find that in the end, we all die. It seems so futile. Should we live our lives only to plan our death? Or should we live our lives, knowing that we will eventually die and continue living?

I have a friend whose boss worked way into his 60’s thinking that he’d make more money figuring that he and his wife could enjoy a nicer retirement. This manager reached high levels in his government organization, was well-respected and was always exceptionally dressed. Unfortunately, after returning home from one work day he simply dropped dead. No one really knows what happened. He seemed fine, and then he was gone. But let’s take a closer look. He had lots of friends, but precious little time to enjoy them, or his wife for that matter. There are no guarantees on how much life we all get. The old adage that no one wants an epitaph, “He worked so hard at his job” or nearing death to say, “I wished I had spent more time at the office.”

This incident had a profound impact on my friend and convinced him to reconsider his own choice of when to retire. You see, he had been putting off his own retirement for similar reasons. His ego was wrapped up in what he did by day, and he felt it would be difficult to give up that status. Not only did he find it difficult to give up his position, he spent more time planning his death than he did planning his life. Wow! He had all the arrangements for his funeral figured out, written down and conveyed to close friends. The cemetery lot was purchased – alongside his parents with another space reserved for his sister (where would her husband and family be laid, I wondered?) He even had the music decided. It was so clear to me that his energy was focused on “death” and not “life”. Is it easier to just keep working than to slow down and get in touch with one’s inner self? Without the constant demands of a day job, often people don’t know how to define themselves and merely check-out of life.

But if they only appreciated that we need to understand the game plan better. It doesn’t matter if one is a project manager, a systems integrator, a secretary or a fireman. Each position comes with both status and trials. Every event and situation gives us a learning opportunity as we navigate through the twists and turns of this lifetime.

Work, work, workLife is more than work, and once we know our true mission, it gives us a sense of self and a peace as we move through life. The objective is to slow down and listen to self. Then and only then, can we learn our lessons – no matter what we are doing – whether working a traditional job or “retired”, to put forth the effort to “listen” to that still small voice inside guiding us daily. The signs are always there, it’s just a question of whether we are paying attention. Focusing on life means that we are paying attention and not just moving forward one step at a time until death.

Being in the Right Place at the Right Time

April 8, 2010

Every wonder how you just happen to be in the right place at the right time? Do you thing it’s a coincidence or do you believe that you are divinely guided? I subscribe to the later philosophy. Here’s a great example that happened on my recent visit to my Mom in Palm Springs, CA.

We were at the local strip shopping mall, having left the grocery store, and passing a couple with a cute dog sitting in the lovely cafe area just outside on the patio area. The dog was so adorable, I couldn’t help myself, and stopped to pet the little feller as I often do in such cases. Then I looked up at the owners, sitting on either side of their beloved frisky, tail wagging friend. Before I knew it, we were all in a conversation of “where do you come from?, where do you live?, what are you doing here?… etc. etc.” I had my newly-released inspirational memoir in the car, having conducted a book-signing just a day or so before during my visit there, always ready for an impromptu sale and or autograph session.

Apparently, the couple, about 60 years old, were visiting the area from LA and were enjoying a cold drink before heading back to their rented condo. The husband – Michael,  had just lost his mother and was grieving terribly. So much so, that even in the shade, he was continuing to wear his sunglasses to hide his eyes reddened from crying (I later found out from his wife). After hearing me provide the introduction to my book – that my father had communicated with me after he died to provide hope to my mother that there was more to life for – he was very interested. At that moment, I realized the car wasn’t close enough – I needed to carry copies of my book with me. Michael got my Mom’s phone number indicating that he indeed wanted a copy and would come by.

Michael followed through and while I was walking the next morning, he came over and bought the book. In addition, he made real contact with my Mom, for he needed some TLC that only another mother could provide. My mother was happy to have found Michael and has had considerable contact with him since, even inviting him over for dinner while his wife was traveling out of town.

So it all worked out perfectly. I connected with people that needed to meet both me – for my book – and my mother – for her surrogate mothering. In turn, Mom was happy to make the acquaintance of new people that she could relate to. The day went well for all concerned. Was it an accident that I stopped and spoke to them? I don’t think so. Do you?

Overcoming the Fear of Change

March 24, 2010

There is an expression that the only thing to fear to fear itself. Us humans like things that become routine and simple (at least many of us do). We become complacent in our every day world and are happiest when things settle down and simplify. Why fix it if it isn’t broken? Sometimes we stay in relationships past the point when they need changing. They can be with spouses, with friends or with businesses. Today, I’m addressing the latter. It’s often difficult to establish a good working relationship with our business partners – the dentist, doctor, cleaners, tailor, etc. and alot easier to just stay with the same individuals or organizations than to change even when their customer service starts to go south.

But, the divine plan is perfect in all ways. Sometimes we are lead to make changes even when it’s not comfortable. This can happen particularly when it’s in our best interest. Lately, I’ve had a few issues with my dentist’s office not respecting my personal situation. They called and canceled appointments due to problems in their office just before their vacation, cutting me off from end of year/or end of period benefits. I let it go the first time but was in a real pickle the second time.

The situation was such that I had to schedule with a different dentist. The particular work had to be scheduled as I was going to lose my benefits by the end of the month and they were going on vacation. I quickly checked my plan’s on-line provider listing, found a dental office within 3 miles and made an appointment. Wow, how fast it was! Then I wondered why I had been so reticent to change earlier. The next day I went to the new office and the staff was terrific. And, this new office turned out to be less expensive so my out of pocket expense was even less than expected. I was totally satisfied. After leaving the new office, I quietly thanked the universe for guiding me to a quality, reasonably priced and close in dentist that could adequately serve my needs.

Why had I been so afraid to change? Now I feel more open about other changes in my life. Once we start changing in one area and it goes well, we feel free to make changes in other areas. I wonder what will come next? There’s nothing to fear for the universe supports me in all that I say and do!

The Circle of Life – A Journey Through Grief to Understanding – books are available!

March 4, 2010

After months of editing, interior formatting, cover design and lots of hic cups in the process, my books are printed! The first copies were shipped this week and copies are on hand. I sent out the first orders as well as some complementary review copies today.

My goal is to generate interest via blogging here, guest blogging (please invite me) and through contacting organizations such as Hospice, Alzheimer’s Assn/Foundation, the Association for Research and Enlightenment, as well as other grief/holistic/spiritual groups.

Please contact me with ideas on how to market on a shoe string. Also, my book is perfect for book groups or the subject of a study group on after death communication, spiritual laws and/or the circle of life (divine order).

Just in time, right on queue, now that the heavy lifting is about up, a consulting position is looking promising to bring me more income and financial security once again. The universe is truly working according to a divine plan. When you continue to have faith in the process, the process works.

Does the Law of Abundance Really Work?

March 1, 2010

What is the Law of Abundance? Does it really work if we apply it in our lives?

The Law of Abundance states that what we give out comes back to us multiplied (much like the Law of Attraction) but it refers to how we deal with money, our time, helping others, tips, – in short ” our finances” whether material, physical, emotional, or spiritual in nature.

For example, if we walk around with a torn wallet, we are sending a message to the universe that we don’t honor ourselves enough to buy a new wallet. “We’re not worth it” or “we can’t afford it”, or “We don’t want to spend the money on ourselves”. No matter how you slice it, it’s not a good idea to carry around a wallet that’s really tattered.

Another example is if we worry about our bills all the time. We are sending a message out that we don’t have enough money, we stress about it and that’s what we get back – more stress and more bills and more stress and more bills.

Perhaps someone asks you to help them at work, wants to borrow a chair at work when you have two or a friend needs to talk… and you don’t have time…

The above examples are called being in Scarcity – the opposite of Abundance. Being in Abundance is believing that you have enough, trusting that the universe is limitedless and that you will be provided for one way or another.

How does this work in practice? Let’s say you’re on a budget for whatever reason and you want to exhibit Abundance – send a donation to a charity anyway. Even a small one. It shows that you get the concept of Abundance – that of sharing what little you have. Help others, put yourself out there, for when the time comes, you may need the help back.

The same goes for tips. There are some things that I feel I need even when times are tough and that’s getting my nails done. I can go longer on hair cuts, but not my nails. However, my nail lady offers to fore go her tip knowing that I’m on the short side. But I won’t have it. I tell her, “Michelle, for you, I always have money”. She does a wonderful job. She cares and I care back. It’s one of those relationships that’s a joy in my life – she makes me feel blessed.

If you follow the Law of Abundance, what can you expect?

We had terrible snows here in the Northern Virginia area and my lower level had considerable damage forcing me to make an insurance claim. Fortunately, I’m covered except for my deductible. Because I’m in the universal flow, am in Abundance, the universe responded to my need. The same week, a client turned up without my doing anything and bought coaching hours, and an unexpected check came in the mail. The total? Exactly enough to cover the insurance deductible! That’s the Law of Abundance at work.

The universe has a way of letting us know when we are doing the right thing at the right time and for the right reason – we get feedback – if we pay attention to our messages. Comments are always welcome.

Are You Getting Your Messages?

February 11, 2010

The first step in  getting your messages is to listen. Yes, I’ve said this before, but it is still the first step.

One Saturday morning, I was lying in bed really wanting to sleep. My cat was crying during the night and just being fussy. At age 16, I guess he’s entitled to be that way. In any case, due to his carrying on,  I didn’t sleep well. I had planned to go on a group walk . When I walk with the group, I not only walk longer – so it’s more of a challenge for me to get additional exercise, I have people with whom I can converse. Exercise and social interchange – both good reasons to get up. However, I was tired.

Then this voice inside my head said, “Get up and get out”. It was quite loud inside my head – as my clairaudient messages often are. However, I was determined not to listen, so I rolled over. The time moved forward. I looked at the clock. Perhaps I had stayed in bed too long to get to the group meeting point in advance of their departure time – 10:05 AM. It was now 9:30 AM. How could I possibly get out of bed, wash up, put on clothes, throw something to eat in my mouth and drive to the departure point all within the allotted time?

By the voice said, “Get up and get out”. Ok, Ok, so I threw the covers off the bed and called the contact phone number which I had printed out from the night before to ask for five extra minutes. The voice on the other end gave me a reprieve. Now, could I really do all that was needed to get me there? I’d really try.

When the universe pushes, it really does so. Perhaps even times collapses, since I made it. However, I noticed that a warning light came on my car dashboard “engine”. Oh, no. Well, there were lots of people on the walk who knew about these things and they began to ask me questions. Had I recently done this or that? I quickly figured out that my gas cap most likely hadn’t been screwed on tight enough which then caused the engine to register a fault. What fortune – luck? I don’t think so. I would not have know what to do if I’d seen this light on my own. Going to a gas station and hooking the car up to machines would have cost me $100. Upon returning from the walk, I merely unscrewed the gas cap and replaced it tighter. The next day, the light went out.

The universe forced me (figuratively via this message) to “Get up and out” in order to gain important information that not only saved me money but peace of mind. Looking up I say, “thank-you”!
